Volleyball Recap: Tatum Has No Trouble Against Texico

Tatum hadn't done well against Texico recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Coyotes put the hurt on the Wolverines with a sharp 3-0 win. The Coyotes were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Wolverines, so the Coyotes were just returning the favor.

While Tatum won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-20, 29-27.

Avery Henard paced Tatum's offense, picking up 11 kills. Henard got some help from Isabel Ramirez and her 21 assists. Allison Dixon controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Despite the loss, Texico saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Macy Dumas had eight assists and seven digs.

Tatum is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Texico, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Tatum will challenge rival Jal at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Texico is set to square off against their familiar foe Loving at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
