Baseball Recap: Philomath Comes Up Short

Philomath extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-6. They lost 10-2 to the Molalla Indians. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

As for Molalla, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six runs or more this season.

For Molalla's part, Kyler Dickerson tossed a big game, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Dickerson has posted since back in May of 2025.

On the hitting side, Dillon Shultz was incredible, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Grant Brusseau, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Philomath will challenge Cascade Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Molalla, they will square off against Baker/Powder Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Bulldogs have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
