Basketball Recap: Archbishop Murphy Takes a Loss

Archbishop Murphy lost against Edmonds-Woodway back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Archbishop Murphy Wildcats were beaten by the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors 72-36. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Warriors are ranked 13th).

Edmonds-Woodway's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from William Alseth, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 17 points in addition to five assists and five steals. That's the most points Alseth has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Hiatt, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds.

Archbishop Murphy is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4. As for Edmonds-Woodway, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Archbishop Murphy will be playing in front of their home fans against Lynnwood at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Edmonds-Woodway, they will venture away from home to square off against Stanwood at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Stanwood is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season.
