The Timberline Wolves will head out to square off against the Eagle Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Timberline came out on top against Kuna on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Wolves took their contest against the Kavemen 10-5. Surprisingly, this marked the Wolves' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
The team relied heavily on Logan Thistle, who went 2-for-5 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Isaac Mills, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Timberline lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Eagle had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 12-0 victory. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Stephen Egan looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kristian Fusco was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Stebel, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Timberline's record is now 7-15. As for Eagle, their record now sits at 12-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Timberline has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Eagle struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Timberline was able to grind out a solid victory over Eagle when the teams last played on April 3rd, winning 10-7. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
