Recap: Oak Ridge War Eagles vs. Willis Wildkats
After a string of six wins, The Oak Ridge War Eagles''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 49-35 to Willis. While losing is never fun, Oak Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Willis is ranked 35th).
Derek Lagway was his usual excellent self, throwing for 303 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Lagway was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards. Willis also got help from Jermaine Bishop jr who showed off his sure hands for 83 receiving yards.
Oak Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Willis, their victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 10-0.
Oak Ridge will head out on the road to face off against Dekaney at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Dekaney is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games. As for Willis, they will square off against Nimitz at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
