Soccer Game Preview: Rancho Alamitos vs. Westminster

Rancho Alamitos and Westminster are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2015, but likely not for long. The Rancho Alamitos Vaqueros will head out to square off against the Westminster Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Rancho Alamitos' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Rancho Alamitos fell victim to Pacifica and their airtight defense on Friday. They came up short against the Mariners, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, the Vaqueros can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 914th, while the Mariners are ranked 373rd).

Meanwhile, Westminster came up short against Godinez Fundamental on Friday and fell 5-3. The Lions have struggled against the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Rancho Alamitos' loss dropped their record down to 1-6-1. As for Westminster, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2-1.

Rancho Alamitos came out on top in a nail-biter against Westminster in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, sneaking past 3-2. Will Rancho Alamitos repeat their success, or does Westminster have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
