Basketball Recap: Newark Central Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Newark Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt a 92-60 loss at the hands of the Hillside Comets. The Blue Devils were down 73-45 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the defeat, Newark Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Yasyn Diggs-Saleem dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards. Yousef Fofana was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Newark Central's record is now 2-10. As for Hillside, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newark Central will host Columbia at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hillside, they will be playing in front of their home fans against New Providence at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Comets will be up against the Pioneers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 66.6 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
