Recap: Hot Springs Tigers vs. Lordsburg Mavericks
Hot Springs came into Tuesday's matchup having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Lordsburg Mavericks on Tuesday as the Hot Springs Tigers made off with a 14-3 victory. The win was just what Hot Springs needed coming off of an 11-0 loss in their prior game.
Max Legarda was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Legarda was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Hot Springs got a massive performance out of Billy Baca, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Jacob Felts, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
On Lordsburg's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adin Jones, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Scott, who went 1-for-2 with a stolen base and an RBI.
Hot Springs' victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hot Springs will face off against Mescalero Apache at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lordsburg, they will head out on the road to take on Laguna Acoma at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lordsburg is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
