Baseball Recap: Paul VI Victorious

Paul VI was handed a eight-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bluffton Bobcats, sneaking past 5-4.

Paul VI got a great performance from Brenden Moehnke as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Moehnke a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Thomas Jewett, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Ryan Bahr also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Paul VI's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Bluffton, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Coming up, Paul VI will head out on the road to take on Hilton Head Island at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bluffton, they will be playing at home against Frederica Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Frederica Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Bluffton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
