Football Recap: Wren Starts off Right with Win over Palmetto

Wren had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They claimed a resounding 42-0 win over the Palmetto Mustangs. The victory continues a trend for the Hurricanes in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won nine in a row.

Wren found their leader in sophomore Jacob Owings, who threw for 154 yards and one TD while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 38 yards.

Wren was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 266 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 171 rushing yards in 12 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Wren's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Cole Ramey got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Wren has already played their next contest, a 50-21 win against Easley on the 29th. As for Palmetto, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 21-6 loss against Crescent on the 29th.
