Basketball Game Preview: McDonough Warhawks vs. Jones County Greyhounds

The McDonough Warhawks will head out on the road to challenge the Jones County Greyhounds at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, McDonough ended up a good deal behind Stockbridge and lost 58-44. While losing is never fun, the Warhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Tigers are ranked 64th).

Meanwhile, Jones County came tearing into Friday's game with 19 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Chargers 79-30. The Greyhounds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Jones County's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for McDonough, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

McDonough was taken down by Jones County 74-32 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Jones County's Mya Anderson, who went 10 for 14 on her way to 21 points and six rebounds. Now that McDonough knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
