Basketball Recap: Calin Anderson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Churchill County over Dayton

Churchill County came up into this matchup off a tough 36-point defeat last Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Dayton Dust Devils by a score of 49-47 on Saturday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Greenwave this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-50 back in December of 2024.

Churchill County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Calin Anderson, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 16 points and four steals. Anderson is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Peek, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Churchill County has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for Dayton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.

Churchill County will venture away from home to face off against Sage Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Churchill County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season. As for Dayton, they will challenge Fernley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
