Softball Recap: Alleghany Sets Scoring Season-High Against James River

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alleghany). They put the hurt on the James River Knights with a sharp 18-2 victory on Friday. Considering the Cougars have won three matchups by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The win made it two in a row for Alleghany and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for James River, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Alleghany will take on rival Glenvar at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, James River is set to challenge their familiar foe Patrick County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
