Basketball Game Preview: Crown Point Panthers vs. Boquet Valley Griffins

Crown Point is 0-5 against Boquet Valley since January of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. The Crown Point Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Boquet Valley Griffins at 7:00 p.m. Boquet Valley took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Crown Point, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with 11 defeats in a row dating back to last season, Crown Point turned things around against Lake Placid on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Bombers by a score of 48-39. The Panthers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Boquet Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Bolton Central on Tuesday and fell 51-48. While the Griffins didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 17-9 in the first quarter.

Crown Point will have to contain Claire Reynolds as she made an impact in Boquet Valley's last game. She went 11 for 19 on her way to 30 points and three steals. That was a full 62.5% of Boquet Valley's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Hickey, who put up four points and 14 boards.

Even though they lost, Boquet Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Crown Point's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Boquet Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Crown Point was dealt a bruising 76-24 defeat at the hands of Boquet Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Crown Point, Ella Lobdell (who almost dropped a triple-double on 33 points, 11 assists, and nine steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
