Baseball Game Preview: Licking Wildcats vs. Plato Eagles

The Licking Wildcats will head out to face off against the Plato Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Licking will be strutting in after a win while Plato will be coming in after a defeat.

Licking is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since March 19th on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past St. Patrick 10-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their two-run performance the game before.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Tuesday. Plato came up short against Liberty, falling 10-2. Plato has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Licking's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Plato, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Licking got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Plato by a conclusive 16-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
