Johnson and Monroe Area are an even 3-3 against one another since September of 2015, but not for long. The Knights will face off against the Purple Hurricanes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Johnson came up short against Cedar Shoals and fell 3-1. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Cedar Shoals scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-18, 17-25, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Monroe Area hadn't done well against East Jackson recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Purple Hurricanes walked away with a 2-0 win over the Eagles. The victory was some much needed relief for the Purple Hurricanes as it spelled an end to their three-match losing streak.

The win didn't come easy: East Jackson scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-18.

Johnson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-22. As for Monroe Area, their record is now 14-27.

Johnson couldn't quite get it done against Monroe Area in their previous meeting back in September as they fell 2-0. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
