Baseball Game Preview: Union Grove Lions vs. Waskom Wildcats

For the second straight game, Union Grove will face off against Waskom. The Lions will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Union Grove turned things around against Waskom on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 8-5.

For Waskom's part, Remington Riley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Riley has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jacob Woodward made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Waskom's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 3-12 when he doesn't).

Union Grove's win bumped their record up to 4-17-2. As for Waskom, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
