Baseball Game Preview: Doddridge County Bulldogs vs. Braxton County Eagles

The Doddridge County Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Braxton County Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Doddridge County lost 16-4 to Fairmont Senior on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Braxton County can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over Ritchie County.

Logan Baldwin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Owen Lowther, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Luke Kelly was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Doddridge County's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Braxton County, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 4-13.

Everything went Doddridge County's way against Braxton County when the teams last played back in March, as Doddridge County made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
