Basketball Game Preview: Springfield Blue Devils vs. Southview Cougars

The Springfield Blue Devils are taking a road trip to square off against the Southview Cougars at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Springfield ended up a good deal behind Whitmer and lost 85-68. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 418th, while the Panthers are ranked 103rd).

Meanwhile, Southview was able to grind out a solid victory over Findlay on Friday, taking the game 67-58.

Southview has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Springfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-6.

Springfield suffered a grim 61-38 defeat to Southview in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Springfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
