Baseball Recap: Carter's Undefeated Season over After Ten Games

Carter fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against South-Doyle on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cherokees by a score of 11-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Green Hornets, who until this game were averaging 3.3 runs allowed.

Luke Burnette and Kingston Griph did some serious damage despite the final result: Burnette scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Griph scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Griph is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Bryson Pressley also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Carter fell to 9-1. As for South-Doyle, the victory got them back to even at 5-5-1.

Coming up, Carter is taking a road trip to take on Seymour at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for South-Doyle, they will welcome Loudon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
