Football Recap: Bishop Manogue Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Rocklin + How To Watch

Bishop Manogue is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Rocklin. The Miners took a 28-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thunder. The Miners lost against the Thunder in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 48-17 score last time.

Brandon Mann and Nate Simmons certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Mann threw for 177 yards and three TDs, while Simmons picked up 117 receiving yards and three scores.

Rocklin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reeve Slone, who threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes. Slone is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Mason Cunningham helped Slone out on the ground, rushing for 147 yards and one score.

Bishop Manogue's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2. As for Rocklin, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Bishop Manogue will be playing at home against Pittsburg at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Rocklin, they will head out to take on Lincoln at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 910 yards in their previous games.
