Pulaski and Bay Port are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Red Raiders will be playing at home against the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Pulaski's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on West De Pere with a sharp 9-0 win.
The team relied heavily on Molly Molthen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Kianna Altendorf was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Pulaski hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 8-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Bay Port waltzed into their contest on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Ships as they made off with a 14-0 victory.
Estelle Finlan and Calli Zimmerman made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Finlan didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Zimmerman tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Finlan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Finlan went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Zimmerman went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Bay Port got a big performance out of Bobbi Seichter, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Seichter has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Chloe Martell, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Pulaski is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bay Port, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7.
Both Pulaski and Bay Port just can't seem to miss. The Red Raiders have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Bay Port struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pulaski couldn't quite finish off Bay Port in their previous meeting back in April and fell 5-3. Will the Red Raiders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
