Football Recap: Sanger Sets Scoring Season-High Against Madera + How To Watch

Sanger extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 6-3. They strolled past the Madera Coyotes with points to spare, taking the game 46-28. The Apaches' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Kendale McGrew produced another solid effort rushing for 227 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. He is becoming a predictor of Sanger's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 5-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sanger was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 398 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Sanger's defense and their four sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Miguel Salazar, Leo Quiroz, and Ghasyia Rogers, who each picked up one sack apiece. Salazar was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 13 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

As for Madera, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. The game marked their lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Madera still got an impressive performance from Lawrence Flores, who picked up 49 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 40 yards and one TD. The Coyotes also got help from Jayden Martinez, who showed off his sure hands for 94 receiving yards.

Coming up, Sanger will welcome San Joaquin Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Apaches will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.13 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Madera, they are taking a road trip to challenge Justin Garza at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
