Softball Recap: Fort Bend Hightower Drops Season-High Score on Fort Bend Elkins

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Bend Hightower). Everything went their way against the Fort Bend Elkins Knights on Tuesday as Fort Bend Hightower made off with a 27-15 victory. This was payback for the Hurricanes, who suffered an 11-7 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Fort Bend Hightower got a massive performance out of Baylee Bonner, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Bonner a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adriauna Coleman, who went 5-for-6 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles.

Fort Bend Hightower always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Bend Elkins only posted an OBP of .500.

Fort Bend Hightower has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2-2 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.63 hits in those games compared to only 4.67 in the others. Fort Bend Elkins' loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

Looking ahead, Fort Bend Hightower is taking a road trip to face off against Fort Bend Travis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Bend Travis will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Fort Bend Hightower surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fort Bend Elkins, they will be playing at home against Ridge Point at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
