Football Game Preview: Kennedy Cougars vs. Canoga Park Hunters

Kennedy is 2-7 against Canoga Park since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cougars will host the Hunters at 7:00 p.m. Kennedy is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

If Kennedy beats Canoga Park with 42 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Cougars breezed past Sylmar to the tune of 42-13 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won three contests by 29 points or more so far this season.

Diego Montes was his usual excellent self, rushing for 200 yards and three scores on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 137 yards and a pair of touchdowns. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 105.3 rushing yards per game. Josue Sandoval was another key player, gaining 124 total yards and a touchdown.

Kennedy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Max Zepeda and Jayvon Carter.

Meanwhile, Canoga Park played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Van Nuys, falling 36-14. The loss continues a trend for the Hunters in their meetings with the Wolves: they've now lost three in a row.

Canoga Park's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Kennedy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Everything came up roses for Kennedy against Canoga Park in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 50-8 win. In that matchup, the Cougars amassed a halftime lead of 29-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
