Loris has gone 9-1 against Waccamaw recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Loris will square off against Waccamaw at 6:30 p.m. Loris is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Loris beat Chardon 9-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.
Jessie Cartrette made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Cartrette was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-5. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Haley Spence, who went 4-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caitie Black, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Loris kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for Waccamaw, as they earned their first away win of the season. They won by a run and slipped past Marlboro County 6-5.
Like Loris, Waccamaw also got a great game from a two-way player: Reese Rutkowski. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Rutkowski was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Elizabeth Ashcraft was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Ella Marina Papadea also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Loris now has a winning record of 6-5-1. As for Waccamaw, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Loris has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Waccamaw struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Loris' way against Waccamaw in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Loris made off with an 11-1 win. Will Loris repeat their success, or does Waccamaw has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
