Baseball Game Preview: Lexington Minutemen vs. Big Walnut Golden Eagles

The Lexington Minutemen will venture away from home to challenge the Big Walnut Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lexington has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Big Walnut will come in with four straight victories.

Lexington is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest defeat since April 29th on Saturday. They fell just short of Hillsdale by a score of 7-5.

Big Walnut came out on top against Cardington-Lincoln on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Golden Eagles put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 7-1 win. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Big Walnut's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Lexington, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

Lexington couldn't quite get it done against Big Walnut in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-3. Can the Minutemen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
