Recap: Greenbrier West Cavaliers vs. Pocahontas County Warriors
The third road match was the charm for the Greenbrier West Cavaliers, as they earned their first road win of the season. They blew past Pocahontas County 70-47. With Greenbrier West ahead 47-18 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dillon Dunz, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. Dunz hasn't dropped below two blocks for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Griffin Taylor, who scored six points along with two steals.
Greenbrier West is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Pocahontas County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenbrier West will take on James Monroe at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in James Monroe's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups. As for Pocahontas County, they will head out on the road to face off against Midland Trail at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Midland Trail's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Pocahontas County has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
