Baseball Recap: Bayfield's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against San Juan, Bayfield was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Ignacio Bobcats 11-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wolverines as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Josiah Mayfield spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on zero hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Bayfield is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Aiden Tipton was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cameron Queen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Bayfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ignacio only posted a batting average of .000.

Bayfield's record now sits at 7-12. As for Ignacio, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-6.

Coming up, Bayfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Pagosa Springs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Ignacio, they will head out on the road to square off against Cedaredge at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
