Softball Game Preview: Wilmington Christian Academy Patriots vs. Scotland Christian Academy Saints

The Wilmington Christian Academy Patriots will take on the Scotland Christian Academy Saints at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wilmington Christian Academy will be strutting in after a win while Scotland Christian Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Wilmington Christian Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Liberty Christian Academy. The victory was some much needed relief for the Patriots as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Amelia Naylor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Emily Bloom was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (two). Lydia Naylor was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.

Wilmington Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Scotland Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch last Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 15-1 to Union Grove Christian.

Wilmington Christian Academy's record now sits at 3-7-1. As for Scotland Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8-1.
