Basketball Recap: Berry Comes Up Short

Berry lost against Ardrey Kell back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. 2025 welcomed the Berry Cardinals with a 54-31 loss courtesy of the Ardrey Kell Knights. That's two games in a row now that the Cardinals have lost by exactly 23 points.

When it comes to explaining why Berry lost, don't look at Zahnia Long. Despite the final result, she posted 24 points.

Layla Mapp was nothing short of spectacular for Ardrey Kell: she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 steals. With that strong performance, Mapp is now averaging an impressive 2.7 steals per game. Kayla Adarkwah was another key player, putting up eight points and 12 rebounds.

Berry has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Ardrey Kell, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season.

Berry will square off against Ballantyne Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Berry is facing Ballantyne Ridge at the right time seeing as Ballantyne Ridge is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Ardrey Kell, they will welcome Myers Park at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
