Basketball Recap: Duncanville Picks Up 20th Straight Win at Home

Duncanville came tearing into Friday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Waxahachie Indians 64-37. The Panthers and Pantherettes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 23 points or more this season.

Leading Duncanville to victory were Samari Holmen and Aja Smith. Holmen went 7 of 10 en route to 20 points and five assists, while Smith went 6 for 13 on her way to 16 points. Those 16 points gave Smith a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trystan James, who posted ten points and three steals.

Despite the defeat, Waxahachie saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brooke Bizzell earned 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Gibson, who had eight points.

Duncanville's win was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Waxahachie, their loss dropped their record down to 12-14.

Duncanville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-30 victory against Skyline on the 21st. Waxahachie has also already played their next match, a 53-46 defeat against DeSoto on the 21st.
