Volleyball Recap: Discovery Canyon Comes Up Short

Discovery Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against the Palmer Ridge Bears, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-16, 25-16.

Lexi Haughian paced Discovery Canyon's offense, picking up ten kills. Haughian got some help from Gabby Huebner and her 12 assists. Huebner also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Riley Eimerbrink, each putting up two.

Leading Palmer Ridge to victory were Henley Kay and Ella Roque. Kay had 24 digs and two aces, while Roque had 13 digs. The dominant performance also gave Kay a new career-high in assists (four).

Discovery Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Palmer Ridge, their victory ended a nine-match drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-13.

Discovery Canyon has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Lewis-Palmer on the 21st. As for Palmer Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Cheyenne Mountain on the 21st.
