Littlestown is a perfect 8-0 against Bermudian Springs since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Thunderbolts are taking a road trip to square off against the Eagles at 4:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Littlestown's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past York County Tech 15-0. The Thunderbolts haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Maddy Dubbert looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Littlestown got a massive performance out of Adyson Popoff, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Reese Rucker also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Littlestown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .650. They are 12-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Bermudian Springs got the win against York Catholic on Monday by a conclusive 15-2.
C Kittinger made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Kittinger was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, A Stover and Lorin Dupert did most of the damage at the plate: Stover went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Dupert went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Stover has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenna Emig, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Littlestown's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Bermudian Springs, their record now sits at 9-11.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Littlestown hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Bermudian Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Littlestown took their win against Bermudian Springs when the teams last played on April 9th by a conclusive 11-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunderbolts since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
