Softball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Oconto Falls' Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Oconto Falls unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 6-1 to the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on April 3rd.

Randi Metzler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Amelia Danielczak was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Oconto Falls' loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Luxemburg-Casco, their victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oconto Falls will welcome Denmark at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Luxemburg-Casco, they will be playing at home against Marinette at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans are facing the Marines at the right time seeing as the Marines are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
