Basketball Recap: August Martinez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bismarck over Arcadia Valley

After flying high against St. Paul Lutheran last Thursday, Bismarck came back down to earth. The Bismarck Indians received a blow on Friday as they fell 61-47 to the Arcadia Valley Tigers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-36 back in November of 2024.

Bismarck's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was August Martinez, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 blocks. Austin Dunlap was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards.

Arcadia Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaiden Keith, who went 5 of 12 en route to 13 points. Another player making a difference was Jarel Jackson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten assists.

Bismarck dropped their record down to 4-11 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Arcadia Valley, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8.

Bismarck didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-38 win against Crystal City on the 27th. As for Arcadia Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-51 loss against Valle Catholic on the 27th.
