Basketball Game Preview: Laurel Highlands Mustangs vs. Gateway Gators

The Laurel Highlands Mustangs will head out to take on the Gateway Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Laurel Highlands is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Laurel Highlands came up short against McKeesport and fell 70-62.

Meanwhile, Gateway also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Greater Latrobe by a score of 66-56. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Wildcats are ranked 43rd).

Gateway has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Laurel Highlands, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

Laurel Highlands couldn't quite finish off Gateway in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 and fell 53-50. Can Laurel Highlands avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
