Basketball Game Preview: Eastside Tigers vs. Woodbury Thundering Herd

The Eastside Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Woodbury Thundering Herd at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Eastside and four for Woodbury.

Last Thursday, Eastside lost to Paul VI at home by a 65-46 margin. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Eagles are ranked seventh).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Elijah Satchell, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyrone Washam, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine assists.

Meanwhile, Woodbury played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Academy of the New Church and fell 70-36. The Thundering Herd were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-16.

Woodbury's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Eastside, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

Eastside came up short against Woodbury in their previous matchup back in February of 2021, falling 61-57. Can Eastside avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
