Preview: Bishop Moore Hornets vs. The First Academy Royals

The Bishop Moore Hornets will head out on the road to take on The First Academy Royals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Bishop Moore suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Trinity Prep by a score of 57-54. Bishop Moore has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite their loss, Bishop Moore saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Justin Suarez, who scored 17 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Diego Elias, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.

The First Academy suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. Their rough 70-46 defeat to Windermere might stick with them for a while. The First Academy just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.

Despite the defeat, The First Academy saw an underclassman step up: Max Simmons scored 14 points along with two steals. Lorenzo De jesus was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

Bishop Moore's record is now 10-6. The First Academy's record now sits at 9-8.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Bishop Moore hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 58.1 points per game. However, it's not like The First Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 58.8 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Bishop Moore and The First Academy were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but Bishop Moore came up empty-handed after a 63-62 defeat. Can Bishop Moore avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
