Baseball Recap: Franklin Pierce Extends Winning Streak to Three

Franklin Pierce waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Clover Park Timberwolves. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cardinals also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Dustin Wallace made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Franklin Pierce is undefeated when Wallace allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Wallace was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Powell, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lucas Larson, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Franklin Pierce's record now sits at 5-3. As for Clover Park, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Franklin Pierce will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Timberwolves: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
