Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Parkersburg South couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Morgantown Mohigans by a score of 3-1 on Friday. The Patriots' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Anniston Shelton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Parkersburg South saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brylee Hatcher, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Parkersburg South's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Morgantown, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 19-9.

As of now, neither Parkersburg South nor the Mohigans have any future games scheduled.
