Football Recap: La Vernia Starts Season with Victory at Home

La Vernia gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 71-6 win over the Burbank Bulldogs. With the Bears ahead 55-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

NULL COOPER had a dynamite game, rushing for 79 yards and three scores on only five carries, while also throwing for 93 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes. Another passer making a difference was RICHARDSON BECKETT, who threw for 126 yards and two touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes.

Coming up, La Vernia is taking a road trip to take on Cuero at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Burbank, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Veterans Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
