The East Mountain Timberwolves will head out to challenge the McCurdy Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Mountain is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
East Mountain proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by six) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Albuquerque, sneaking past 9-8.

Charles Birdwell was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of East Mountain's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Rylen Radosevich was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when McCurdy duked it out with Pecos on Tuesday. McCurdy came out on top against Pecos by a score of 10-6. With that win, the Bobcats brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Cruz Martinez and Carlos Garcia made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Martinez struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Garcia pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Martinez has allowed since back in April of 2024. At bat, Martinez went 4-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one double, while Garcia scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That double was Martinez's first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jeremaya Roybal, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. D'Metrius Martinez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
McCurdy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
East Mountain pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for McCurdy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. East Mountain has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like McCurdy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went East Mountain's way against McCurdy in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as East Mountain made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Mountain since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
