Football Recap: Buchanan Bears vs. Central East Bengals
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Buchanan can now relate to. They lost 53-31 to the Central East Bengals on Friday. The game was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly the Bears struggled afterwards.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gannon Sever, who rushed for 90 yards and two TDs. Buchanan is 4-1 when Sever posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Devany, who rushed for 80 yards and one score on only ten carries.
Jelani Dippel produced another solid performance throwing for 391 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 15.6 yards per attempt for Central East. Dippel's passing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 370 passing yards. A healthy portion of Dippel's aerial production (88 yards to be exact) went to Titus Thomas, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Buchanan's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Central East, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1.
Buchanan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Central East, they will be playing at home against Clovis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Dippel and Deagan Rose.
