It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Santa Maria ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Nipomo Titans 2-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Saints' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

The team relied heavily on Alex Ybarra, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

With the win, Santa Maria broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-6. As for Nipomo, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santa Maria will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Orcutt Academy at 4:30 p.m. on the 29th. As for Nipomo, they will take on Lompoc at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
