Miley Sperling made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Laney Scherer, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emerson Walker, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Floyd Central came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Highlanders have posted against the Panthers since May 17, 2017.
Elise Coleman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. Kiersten Fiedler also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Gibson Southern's record now sits at 4-2. As for Floyd Central, their record is now 8-1.
Floyd Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Gibson Southern has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .486. It's a different story for Floyd Central, though, as they've only averaged .316. Will they be able to contain Gibson Southern's hitters?
Gibson Southern might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Floyd Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
