Basketball Game Preview: Eureka Wildcats vs. Parkway South Patriots

The Eureka Wildcats will face off against the Parkway South Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Eureka strolled past St. Dominic with points to spare, taking the game 46-30. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Parkway South, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 50-49 win over Maplewood-Richmond Heights. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 235th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eureka better keep an eye on Jacob Sidwell. He was instrumental in Parkway South's win, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Sidwell's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Tyler Shanfeld was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Parkway South was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They are 17-3 when they've passed the ball that well.

Parkway South pushed their record up to 18-8 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Eureka, their win bumped their record up to 15-9.

Everything came up roses for Eureka against Parkway South when the teams last played back in December of 2021, as the squad secured a 76-41 victory. Does Eureka have another victory up their sleeve, or will Parkway South turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
