Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Christian Academy of Louisiana

After losing to Open Door Christian Academy the last time they met, Christian Academy of Louisiana decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Christian Academy of Louisiana Crusaders walked away with a 50-38 victory over the Open Door Christian Academy Conquerors on Tuesday. The Crusaders pushed the score to 46-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Conquerors cut but never quite recovered from.

Christian Academy of Louisiana's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Rivet, who went 6 for 9 en route to 13 points and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Wesley Claudio, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 16 points and four steals.

Open Door Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jaxon Sandlin, who posted 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lathan McMichael, who had six points and ten boards.

The victory was the third in a row for Christian Academy of Louisiana, bringing their record for this year to 5-5. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.3 points per game. As for Open Door Christian Academy, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christian Academy of Louisiana will venture away from home to square off against Brighton at 6:30 p.m. on January 21st. As for Open Door Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Immanuel Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 24th.
