Softball Recap: Caledonia-Mumford Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Caledonia-Mumford won against Perry on Wednesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Raiders beat the Pavilion Golden Gophers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-6. The victory was nothing new for the Raiders as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Kylie Padlick -Field made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mia Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Caledonia-Mumford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Caledonia-Mumford pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pavilion, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caledonia-Mumford will head out to face off against Keshequa at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Pavilion, they will venture away from home to square off against Lima Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Gophers are facing the Saints at the right time seeing as the Saints are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
