Football Recap: Coolidge Takes a Loss

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Coolidge and Aquilla have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Yellowjackets were outmatched by the Cougars and fell 64-14. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Cougars are ranked third).

Andrew Snipes had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 94 yards and three touchdowns for Aquilla. That's the most rushing touchdowns Snipes has posted since back in October of 2024.

Coolidge's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Aquilla, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Coolidge will square off against rival Abbott at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Aquilla is set to take on their familiar foe Gholson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
